ODNR Update Tycoon Lake

ODNR reached out to Ohio B.A.S.S. Nation to make them aware that the water levels in Tycoon Lake, located in Gallia County, are being lowered for safety reasons concerning the dam.

As a trophy bass lake, some of you members likely fish the lake, and I wondered if you could help pass this information along so they don’t unnecessarily make the trip?

OBN Rocky Fork Team Event – May 4th

From the Tournament Directors Front Deck:

The Ohio Bass Nation presents the First Team Bassmaster Championship Trail Event for 2019 on Rocky Fork Lake. This event will be one of 4 events that determine the Ohio Team Champion. This event is a two man team event. There is no official off limits other than what is designated below and to the Tournament Director’s discretion prior to launch. The rules for the tournament will mirror the Bassmaster Open Rules with Modifications. See the OBN Website for official rules. Each team is responsible for knowing the rules along with the laws in Ohio. Livewell checks will be conducted in the parking lot/on the water, kill switches will be checked, and lights operational to launch. Safety must be observed. If your light does not work you won’t be able to launch until safe light or you get your lights working (whichever happens first).

Fish Care is very important to the OBN and B.A.S.S, so please be prepared to exemplify the best fish care that you can to help ensure that no casualties will occur during the event. Volunteers to run fish to be released outside the launch area would be greatly appreciated!! If you are interested in running fish please contact me via cell.

Check in with Will Presley at trailer when you arrive.

Where: Rocky Fork Lake (North Shore Ramp) – No Launch Fee’s required.

When: May 4th

We need to have all boats in the water by 6:00 AM. Official Sunrise is predicted at 6:33am

Flight 1 7:00 AM or (First Light) to 3:00 PM

Flight 2 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM (if required)

Weigh in starts approximately 3:15 PM

Any off limits will begin at 2:00 PM. No fishing inside the launch area.

Registration for this can be done on line at www.ohiobassnation.com or at the ramp by 6am. There is a team membership fee of 20 dollars if you decide to pay at the ramp and are not a member of the Team Bassmaster Championship Trail.

New this year you must be a member of Ohio Bass Nation.

50/50 Raffle tickets will be sold.

Message to Ohio Bass Nation

Message from OBN President

Hello Ohio Bass Nation Friends and Family,

I wanted to start off by thanking Al Evans for all of his years of service and dedication to the OBN. Since 2013 I have had the pleasure of working with Al when he became president. My roles in Al’s tenure was Southern Zone Director, Tournament Director, and Vice President. Under Al’s leadership the organization has seen strong growth in the youth and High School programs. I’ve also seen the organization keep pace with B.A.S.S. changes to grow from supporting a 12 member state team to 22 member state team. He has put in countless hours to better the organization and turn it over to the next person in better shape than when he took it over. I was along for the ride so I certainly know that he accomplished that goal. I want to thank him for his leadership and dedication to the OBN, but most of all for being a great friend. State team members will have no need to worry about the turnover because Al is still staying involved to help me get all the required paperwork to B.A.S.S. by our deadline. Thank you to all the Club Presidents and Board Members that have trusted me with the role as President of the OBN. I humbly accept this responsibility and I too hope to turn it over to the next person in a little better state than what I’ve been given.

I want to thank all of our board members for all the what that they have put in already and their efforts to come. I especially thank the new board members that have stepped into a role with the OBN to help keep the charge going. Special mention to Will Presley as our new Tournament Director. I am completely confident that he will run great events for our members and bring a fresh new perspective to running our events. I also want to thank Scott Gordon for his continued support as he was recently appointed secretary in 2018, but is also helping out with our webmaster duties.

I am really looking forward to the 2019 season and can’t wait to see you all on the water.

Bass Nation Annual Meeting 2019

Please accept my invitation to attend the Ohio BASS Nation annual meeting. We will meet on February 23^rd 2019 at the Caesars Creek Visitors center 4020 N. Clarksville Road Waynesville, OH 45068-9408. Doors will open at 8:00 AM with registration. Admission is $10.00, with admission you will be treated to coffee, donuts, and lunch.

This year we will hold elections for the offices of Secretary, Conservation Director, Northern Zone Director, & President, for two-year terms.

Any member who is interested in stepping up to help lead the Ohio B.A.S.S. Nation please notify, me via email: alevans826@gmail.com or phone me at 937-869-4453.

We will update The B.A.S.S. Nations national and local programs. We will review tournament format for 2019 and the added College Event. We will review rule changes and present the 2019 OBN State Team Championship Trail, and the Bass Nation’s BASSMASTERS Team Tournament trail.

We will be acknowledging the 2018 High School and youth champions, the 2018 State Team, or 2018 BASS Nation Northern Divisional team champ and National qualifier.

We will present the 2018 BASS Class recipient.

Rich Carter, will bring us up to date on what is new from ODNR and Ranger Russ will talk about “Take a Warrior Fishing.

We will hold a 50/50 raffle and our annual auction to raise money to benefit the OBN and the OBN High School/Youth programs. This auction is a great opportunity for members to pick up quality items at great prices.

I am excited to have the opportunity to meet with the Ohio BASS Nation, I will see you all on February 23rd.
